We plan to stay 3 nights in Charleston beginning Sunday night and looking for best choice for the money and location. Please help!
Fulton Lane Inn vs Vendue Inn, Mills Inn or Kings Charles In
Of the hotels you mentioned, I%26#39;ve stayed only at Mills. Last time I was there was several years ago, and I had generally good feelings about the stay. The location was superb, the rooms nice but not luxurious, and the rates were decent for the historic district. However, that was a few years back. Now that the rates are about 70% higher, I doubt I%26#39;d return to Mills. One drawback was that the staff was a little less than accomodating (never got the mini fridge we were promised). Hope that helps some.
The good news for you: rates are always better near the beginning of the week, which is when you%26#39;re traveling. Enjoy your stay, and be sure to take the boat ride over to Fort Sumter!
Fulton Lane Inn vs Vendue Inn, Mills Inn or Kings Charles In
I%26#39;ve stayed at Mills House and Fulton Lane - enjoyed both. Mills house is a larger hotel and Fulton Lane is smaller and more intimate. It%26#39;s also off the main road. Parking is easier at Mills House. Best wishes.
King Charles Inn just did a $7 million renovations, new rooms are beautiful. Handcrafted furniture, safes, mini-fridges, flat screen TV%26#39;s, IHOME radios that have an IPOD docking station. Parking is free at the King Charles as well...very rare for downtown.
We stayed at the Pinckney last year and would never go back. Lousy rooms for the high price.
That said, the Vendue has received rave reviews, but it also is quite pricey.
By the looks of it, the King charles would be my choice. Location is great, and the recent renovations sounds like it has become THE place to stay. Two big positives are the rates and the free parking.....
