Best shelling beach on HH?

Read previously that HH isn%26#39;t the greatest for finding shells, but didn%26#39;t know if anyone had a location for the best bet to find anything? Or simply anywhere along the beach?

THANKS!

Sometimes you can find whole shells just up the beach towards the arch of the foot from south beach. Also Dafuski Island. One year we found pails and pails of sand dollars- but many of them were still alive so they went back. There are tons of small intact shells along the beaches just after high tide. Good luck.

Thanks for the help - can you help me more specifically where this is at? I just looked at a map.. it DOES look like a foot! :) But any more details would be great!

The best time is right after high tide. If you go to an area without much activity, such as the south beach area of SeaPines, or north of the Marriott in PD, you should find lots of shells.

When you take the ferry to Dafauskie is the beach close to where you dock? Do we need a golf cart to get there?

Another tip, Atlantic coast shells aren%26#39;t anything like the pretty Gulf shells, if that is what you are looking for. They will generally be old shells that have been bounced around in storms for a while, some will have other critters that have attached themselves.

Have brought lots of shells home over the years, but nothing really, really pretty. And yes, if you%26#39;re lucky enough to be there after a winter storm, you may find them just being tossed onto the beach.

Good luck!!!
