myrtle beach north end

Hi,

My husband and I will be travelling to Myrtle Beach at the end of October. I have looked at TAs hotel reviews until my head hurts. We would like an ocean front accomodation in the north end that is CLEAN and quiet. Easy parking would be a plus.

myrtle beach north end

Are you meaning the north end of Myrtle or North Myrtle Beach?

myrtle beach north end

The north end of Myrtle Beach - around 77th, Barefoot Landing area.

Carolina Winds, Marriott Resort at Grande Dunes, Grande Shores, Ocean Creek Resort.

Great deals to be had if you are wanting Royale Palms. I know that if you check vrbo.com and you%26#39;ll find some great deals! Check out its reviews on TA!! Very beautiful, brand new (less than 2 years) and absolutely gorgeous. Right down the street from Tanger outlets and a short distance to Barefoot Landing!

Barefoot Landing is the Windy Hill section of North Myrtle Beach...(the city). From there to northern Myrtle Beach is around 4 miles. There%26#39;s so much between the 2 that many don%26#39;t even know there are 2 different cities. The part between the 2 ( restaurant row, stretch along Arcadian Shores, Tanger Outlet North, Sea Watch, Hilton, etc.) is county governed.

You may want to check some maps to be sure the north end of MB (and not southern end of North Myrtle Beach) is where you want to be.

You didn%26#39;t mention a price range, but if looking to keep the cost down, check out Long Bay...a nice place with spacious %26amp; well-kept indoor %26amp; outdoor pool areas %26amp; a convenient parking garage.

Certainly not on a par with Marriott Grand Dunes, but at a fraction of the price.

Try the Seawatch Plantation. Most of it is owned by Wyndam (timeshares) but the Seawatch also has a hotel section (North Tower) that looks right out on the beach.

We%26#39;re here right now and I can tell you that it is quiet and peaceful (great for me, but the teenager isn%26#39;t so happy about it). It%26#39;s not very crowded so there are plenty of chairs at the pools (4 outdoor, 2 heated/covered but still outdoor and MANY hottubs scattered around). There is also PLENTY of space on the beach to set up your chairs/umbrella or whatever cover you choose.

The Seawatch has 1,2 and 3 bedroom accomodations to choose from. I%26#39;ve always stayed in a 2 bedroom but for just the 2 of you a one bedroom would be fine and you should be able to get a great deal at that time of year.

Within a mile of the condo there%26#39;s also Tanger Outlets, Walmart, Marshall%26#39;s and several places to eat. The Seawatch is kinda considered to be on restaurant row so there are plenty of great places to eat within a short distance.

Does Seawatch have complimentary breakfast buffet or is there a charge?

Well . . . it%26#39;s complimentary if your attending the sales pitch ;) Otherwise . . . I think I saw a sign that said it was about $6. My suggestion would be to either fix your own in your condo or go out to one of the wonderful pancake houses in the area.

We always stay at Fairfield Inn. We are leaving on Sunday 12th and got a great rate of $49. night with micro and refrig. in wonderfully comfortable room only 1 block from beach. This is North Myrtle Beach.

Nobody ever mentions Fairfield Inn (part of Marriott chain) and now we never even bother with anyone else as we know what to expect and are always satisfied. Beds are wonderful, service excellent, and breakfast is INCLUDED! No - I dont work for them, just appreciate such a great place. Have stayed at Fairfield Inn%26#39;s all over the country. Everything works too!

  • Water Temps

How are the water temps these last few days? I am still trying to decide if I want to come there next week. I have to decide tonight. So, somebody help me make up my mind please.

    Thanks,

    Cheryl

    Water Temps

Water temps are in the mid to upper 70%26#39;s on nice days. Might even make it to 80 on a really warm day. A cold front is coming through in the next 24hrs that will drop the water temps into the low 70%26#39;s fairly quickly.

    Water Temps

Are you referring to the ocean or pools? I was wondering about the ocean.

    Thanks,

    Cheryl

Here is a NOAA link to the weather station at the Spring Maid pier in Myrtle Beach - the column on the right (WTMP) is the ocean water temperature - looks like its 76 to 77 the past 2 days.

I hope you do decide to go and you have great weather! We really enjoyed our first fall beach trip and plan on going back next year. We had great weather the whole week and it rained on our trip home which was no problem.

    basketscrapper,

I was referring to the ocean temps. Water temps will cool quickly now with the rain and cooler weather.

Anyone got a ';real deal'; by waiting to book til you got to .

    .. to Charleston???

My husband and I are coming down for 1 night. We have tickets for the dinner cruise outing. ( Oct 25 ) Just curious if we should wait and book a room going thru the Tourist center... and possibly get a better rate. I like staying at the Embassy and the Ansonborough Inn - but their prices are running 300 a night. That is a little much for just one night... for me anyway. We would like to stay downtown somewhere - so we can explore before our cruise.

Thanks in advance for any opinions or advice.

Anyone got a ';real deal'; by waiting to book til you got to .

The reason they%26#39;re probably running high is that Oct 25 is the day/night of Chazzfest.

If you haven%26#39;t stayed at the Mills House before, you might give it a try - rooms run usually $150 less. Also - you might try booking through an online travel site such as Hotwire - just make sure you pick the Historic District.

    Enjoy!

Anyone got a ';real deal'; by waiting to book til you got to .

Unfortunately for you, October is Prime season. Yes, you will find many of the hotels at $300 a night with The Mills House being one of them. You%26#39;ll also find that this is the last weekend for the Candlelight House tours. Like many popular destinations, our hotel rates are based on demand. There is never set prices that stay throughout the year. The only time to get the best rates is the Summer (because of the heat, tourists tend to flock to the beaches)January and February and at this time rates could be as low as $129 -$150 a night! March through the beginning of June (Spoleto Festival) and September to November (beware of high rates $249 - $300)

You can try Mt. Pleasant where the rates generally stay the same and just travel over the bridge into Charleston. Not actually the same but worth a try.

Also, you may want to see if the places like the Elliott House Inn which is now individually owned. Try vrbo.com and type in Charleston. You may find some great deals with that! Good luck!

I just booked the Mills House via Hotwire for 10/19-10/21 for $119 per night. The Mills House website%26#39;s lowest price was over $200 per night.

That%26#39;s a great deal on the Mills House! Congratulations! Enjoy your trip!

How did you know you were getting the Mills House. When I called the Holiday Inn 1-800 number, the best rate they offered me for Sun-Weds was $230. Please reply to robsmithson@bellsouth.net

I just got on hotwire and I don%26#39;t think the Mills House is on the list for your date. Sorry.

    Thanks

Alot of us are fed up with the new laws and ordinances we are seeing go into effect down there. We collectively spend large amounts of money in and around Myrtle Beach. I myself spent a little over 2 grand not counting the hotel room when I was there in August. But we wont be coming soon. If I cant bring my bike down there without being harrassed then I%26#39;m sure as hell not going to bring my family there for vacation. I bet the elected officials in Myrtle Beach will be singing quite a different tune this time next year. We%26#39;re fed up and we%26#39;re not taking it anymore. We%26#39;ll boycott your town and bypass you on the way to Florida. Trust me, Try us. Heres a link to a discussion:

    Motorcycle Riders

Understood! Please also understand there are people on the other side of this discussion who feel just as strongly as you do!

    Motorcycle Riders

As an individual who owns a couple of condos there, the simple fact is that more damage is done during the 2 bike festivals than all the rest of the year. That said, I have had some very nice people to rent during the bike weeks, and would love to rent to the same type of people again, however there is no way to differentiate between those who will respect my property and those who do not until after the fact. I think peer pressure WITHIN the group will do more to bring harmony than outside pressures.

Hotel and business owners, like individual owners, are not out to';get'; anyone. It just becomes a question of what will be best(profitable?) in the long run.

    Hey Liquid Edge -

This is a battle that is being played out daily in the local newspapers, and many of us who live here share your views, while obviously, many do not. I%26#39;m not sure hindsight will come within a year, but at some point, the wisdom of these steps will surely be questioned.

The entire Myrtle Beach/Grand Strand area is undergoing a painful transition from being primarily a tourism-oriented economy to a significant permanent retirement destination. Elected officials and the entire community in general are struggling with how to serve both masters. In many cases, it%26#39;s seen as an either-or situation, and the balance of power can be perceived as swinging toward the retirees. Many of these would applaud your decision to bypass the Grand Strand because they have chosen to ignore the financial implications of reduced tourism. Some factions of the retirement community could care less if any tourists showed up. Unfortunately, they are failing to recognize that many of the things that make this area attractive to retirees - plentiful restaurants, attractions, shopping, etc - exist only because it%26#39;s also a major tourist area.

Unfortunately, this narrow minded approach knows no boundaries. After the ban-the-bikers crusade is complete, spring breakers will very likely become the next target. The winds of change are blowing in Myrtle Beach...

    Charleston's weather in February

What is Charleston%26#39;s typical February weather? Temperature?

    Charleston's weather in February

Average high is 60; record high was 83.

    http://weather.msn.com/monthly_averages.aspx?wealocations=wc:USSC0051%26amp;q=Charleston%2c+SC+forecast:averagesm

The big difference (for folks like us from CT and NJ) is that there is no icy chill and there is no snow. The palmettos are ever-green. Even some flowers will be blooming in February. If the sun is strong, you might even enjoy lying out in a protected area.

February is a great time for touring around Charleston ... but not for a beach vacation!

    Charleston's weather in February

Indeed. Feb is a ';transition'; month and can be gorgeous or chilly, but last Feb I overheard a couple from the north say ';At home, we%26#39;d be wearing shorts in this weather';.

On average - plan on 40%26#39;s at night; low 60%26#39;s day, some rain.

    Ocean one resort

Sorry about all the changes for you! Maybe you are getting all of the travel stress out of the way and things are being set for smooth sailing from here on:-) Jen

This place looks top shelf! Let us know how you enjoyed your stay!

Have you gone on your trip yet? If so how was the Ocean One resort?

I have stayed at the resort the weekend of the 10th of Oct and it was wonderful and actually going back the weekend of the 25th of Oct. The view wa amazing. I stayed on the 19th floor in a 3 bedroom and I was totally happy with everything. My first trip was without the children and now I going back to take the children.

I stayed on the 21st floor in a room with floor to ceiling windows and a balcony facing the pier and the ocean. If I%26#39;m not mistaken I had one of the best if not the best room in the hotel since it only has 21 floors. Let me tell you, the hotel is top notch. You wont find anywhere in Myrtle Beach better to stay. The views are great and the hotel is awesome. Good luck to you.

When we were coming to interview for a job then look for a house we were here three times in a month...we usually stay at Island Vista on vacations but couldn%26#39;t justify the expense. All three times we stayed at Oceans One.Super nice staff and excellent prices and new clean rooms.

First time we stayed in the front facing room on the amusement park side ,next time same room on the pier side, and lastly the day we were here but not our moving truck we stayed in the two bedroom suite oceanfront. All were beautiful!

Just returned from a weeks stay at Oceans One. My husband loved the room because of the view. It is nicely furnished and the view is wonderful. There were little things about the place that bothered me but nothing that would keep me from going there. Except that it is on the south end of the beach and We like the north end. We stayed in a one bedroom with panoramic view, you can lay in your bed and watch the ocean. So cool!! The check in is across the street, along with the parking. Of course it was October but you hardly ever even see a staff member besides seeing the maids out front smoking. Check in was easy and they were all friendly. I think if they were right on property the place would be kept up better. My one minor concern is no safe in the room, When I asked about this they said these are owned condos and we are really just property managers and they did not want safes. I like safes with maids coming in and out. No bathroom by the pool, you have to go up to the 2nd floor to go the bathroom and you wonder why everyone was complaining about the elevators always being wet in the summer. The elevators are in bad shape for being less than a year old, I hate to see them in 5 years. Paint is peeling, tiles are cracked on the floor, the glass is all scratched up and the handle bar in there is falling off. I notice the carpet in the halls is getting pretty dirty. I saw them cleaning it with a little carpet cleaner like I use at home. This place reminds me of a hotel that was thrown up quickly with some cheap craftsmanship. They wanted it to look nice but cheaply and did not want to put more money into it to keep it up. If you are a smoker you can not smoke anywhere on the property not even the balcony. There is a $250.00 fine for smoking. I did like the fact that you need a key to get into the building. And our maid did a good job. The price is very good. It was close to Friendly%26#39;s that you could walk to for a $2.70 breakfast. I love staying at Island Vista but for the price this made sense and besides the location I could deal with everything else.

  • Timeshare swap

I am trying to swap my time share for a week in Myrtle Beach though Interval. Not having much luck, actually having no luck at all. Interval has none available. My question to those that own time shares am I trying to swap to early or to late? Is Myrtle beach one of those locations that owners do not normally swap? Thanks for any input.

    Timeshare swap

When are you trying to trade? I have an RCI points resort timeshare in Myrtle Beach, and I find that I always have to reserve the week before the timeframe for points reservations, or I can%26#39;t get in.

    Timeshare swap

Looking for any week in July. I have my points through Diamond Resorts and using Interval to trade. Thanks for th info.

I heard there is a 3 year waiting list for MB swap. Not sure but that is what I heard.
