My husband and I will be visiting Charleston for the first time. We will be staying three nights. We are considering the Holiday Inn (historic dist), Best Western King Charles, or Hampton Inn (historic dist). Would anyone recommend any of these over another? We are hoping to experience a walking tour, carriage ride and maybe the harbor tour as well as driving south to Hilton Head and Savannah. Any advice would be appreciated.
Which hotel for our first trip?
JTMAY usually knows more about what is going on in the hotels around Charleston than anyone. He recently wrote that the King Charles Inn just completed a $7M renovation so it sounds good! It also has free parking and is closer than the other two. The Holiday Inn Historic has a good reputation for Kevin the Concierge.
Which hotel for our first trip?
Also, consider The Mills House Hotel, which is also a Holiday Inn although you would never know it. Some people have gotten great deals recently.
Hi. I sent my parents on their first trip to Charleston on their 25th wedding anniversary. They fell in love with it. We booked their first stay at the Hampton Inn. It doesn%26#39;t look like your typical Hampton Inn, it blends in with Charleston. Once they were there they found the Charleston Place Hotel. If you need to budget, check out the Hampton Inn, if you can spend some $$$ go straight to the Charleston Place Hotel and even check out staying on the concierge level for special treatment. They have tea time, an amazing restaurant and an upscale mall downstairs. Even if you don%26#39;t stay there, walk through and check it out. Have fun, Charleston is an amazing place!!!
The Best Western King Charles Inn did spend 7 million renovating recently and their new rooms are some of the best in town, while still being pretty affordable. The new rooms have handcrafted furniture, mini-fridges, IHome clock radios with IPOD docking stations, and LG Flat Screen TV%26#39;s. For the location and the price it simply can%26#39;t be beat. If you are going to Savannah you should consider the Planters Inn on Reynolds Square, that is where I stay when I go down to Savannah on business.
It always links the wrong hotel for Planters...here is the one in Savannah.
